During bus tour to Yamanashi, I enjoyed seeing a cake factory first, boarding helicopter for the first time in my life, and sampling wine at winery, and visited herb garden in rain last. We followed a guide to go round the garden. Then I met curious plants with round shape and yellow green as seen in the photo above. Checking the name of plants later, I knew that the plants have the name as "Kochia"(another name Houkigusa) and they changes their color into red in autumn and brooms were made with this plants in old time.

On the way of Ine bay cruising, I took the picture right. As many as about 230 houses stand along the coastline of the Tango peninsula Ine-cho eagle cape. These houses have two floors. The first floor is directly connected to the sea enabling the boat to go sailing and the second floor is available for living. These fisherman's houses are expected to its existence from the middle of the Edo era and selected to "Important, traditional structure group preservation district"in Japan.

I have been planning what is the best cover picture for our final bulletin No.79. I used the picture taken by me at Koide festival until last year but for the final issue I was thinking other picuture different from the festival. When going home to my home town, I usually stayed at my parents' house and enjoyed conversation with my elder brother. I used the cover picture of bulletin No.77 which was taken by me at fireworks display when enjoying seeing the fireworks with my elder brother in a rain. My elder brother died suddenly five months after the operation due to pancreas cancer this year. Attending the funeral in May, I could take the picture of the Uonuma 3 mountains covered with remaining snow from the Koide bridge unexpectedly which was the suitable for the final issue No.79. I wonder these pictures have some connection with my elder brother.

During Okinawa Tour, I could see "Ohogomadara"the largest butterfly in Japan with the size of 14 cm×7cm at the butterfly garden. They flutter slowly and gracefully, and fly in the air as a newspaper floating in the wind so sometime they are called 'Newspaper butterfly'. To my surprise the chrysalises are gold hanging under branches and leaves as shown in the picture right

After I visited Yoshida house inside newly built rately, I enjoyed seeing such beautiful spots as pond, garden and hill in his residential area. I could find the statue of "Shigeru Yoshida" standing on the top of the hill and staring over the sea in the direction of San Francisco of America because he attended the Japan-U.S. peace treaty (San Francisco agreement) concluded in 1951.

This picture was one of photos taken at the 24th annual gathering of Hosei University Graduates in Kyoto. This was the first time for me to see the dance in my presence. We were fascinated by the girls dancing on the stage.

When waiting our bus in the Park of Kitanomaru after getting out Inui-Mon during flower viewing tour, I found purple flowers like lavender under groves far away. I took pictures of them quickly because they were too beautiful and fantastic to me. The name of the flower seems to be said, "Taiwan Hototogis" which I had ever drawn in my botanical art. However this is the first time to see the flowers growing gregariously in flocks.

The last time I could enjoy seeing a fine view at daytime. But this time as a result I saw a night splendid view because we three brothers were obliged to wait entering the tower due to too much tourists. Anyway I was impressed by the night view and felt a big energy from the large city Tokyo.

We had a time to take the lecture for "Edo Culture"made by Tanaka, at the gymnastic hall of Hosei Second High School. After this, we moved to the dinning room downstairs, where we could have the welcome party friendly and respectfully with her. This is one of memorial picture centering her together with our members of Sagami alumni association.

We could see the "Sin-Basira"(a wooden pillar penetrating to the center of the pagoda and having no base on the ground) which is said to protect the pagoda from earthquakes and whose construction method is employed in the tower of "Tokyo Sky Tree". We were also impressed to see carvings and decoration on the pagoda during our trip to Nikko.

During my travel to Las Vegas in USA, we visited to the West Rim of Grand Canyon as introduced in my report. This is the picrure taken at one of the view points called "Eagle Point"which is seen as if a huge eagle is flying up with his wings streched. I heard the local tribes respect this place as a holy rock.

My wife brought some bulbs of this flower from Okinawa and planted them into pots at the veranda of my house. After two months, we could find a large flower with three red petals at one of pots. The country of origin of this flower is said to be South America. I feel them special appearance.

As the meeting held at Ueno Seiyoken was finished soon and the weather was fine, I took a walk to the Ueno zoo and entered premises. That was the first time to come alone in my life though I had come here together with my families when my son was a child. There was a big cage of giant panda in the right just near entrance. I heard this area was usually crowded but I could see  pandas smoothly on that day because of during winter season. Fortunately I could took a picture one of two pandas enjoying outside sunshine. He was a male named Lily and the other was climbing a tree indoor. If I had been accompanied by my grandchild, he would not have left here.

The following day of this trip we visited to "Bun Byou" called as Learning God where I saw a lot of students reporting their graduation to the God. Some of them were girls dressed colorfully in Aozai and charmed me by posing to my camera.

We, all of four brothers, made a trip to Vietnam from 20th to 23th in November. The first day of this trip we visited to Hallon Bay to enjoy cruising and seeing Stalactite grotto where I was surprised at seeing natural art made by huge lime stone. Inside of the grotto I felt sultry a little bit humid and hot but I could touch mysterious atmosphere.

During my travel to Tohoku district, we visited to "Genbi kei"in Itinoseki of Iwate pref. at first where is famous in its beauty of ravine. I happened to see such a curious scene there that damplings are available in a basket suspended by a rope from the tea-house on the hill to the rest-house on the rock. This is called as "Kakko dumpling"flying in the air and introduced on TV.

We, members of self-governing body visited the stricken area of old Yamakoshi village caused by Tyuetuoki Earthquake five years ago on the second day of the study tour to Kashiwazaki Kariwa nuclear plant in Niigata. The house in a pond being reported on TV in those days left it's appearance buried in earth and sand as it was, and fear of the disaster was told by this apperrance as a living witness like a monument.

We, Hosei alumni of Sagamihara held a new year's meeting at Odakyu Reflesh Club in Atami located on a hill and near Atami Plum Garden. We had a good time to eat, drink and discuss in our evening party. The followig morning we went to Atami Plum Garden on foot. On our way to Atami Plum Garden, we enjoyed watching Kawazu Zakura, early blooming cherry blossoms in which I found white-eyes jumping about for flower's honey. This is one of pictures taken quickly by me.

The drainage construction site at Ohnodai in Sagamihara City was inspected as part of the training of the head of the self-governing body. I was surprised at the huge tunnel with about 3.7m diameter running straight in the place of 12m depth from the ground. To prevent the flood damage by the heavy rain, this drainage tunnel might have been constructed.

This is one of picture taken at World Orchid Exhibition Show. A bride in white dress decorated with numerous white orchid petals stands right and a long outer garment decorated with numerous red orchid petals is hung behind. These were Japanese typical trousseau of bride so far. What a beautiful decoration this is!

As the year end season comes near, the illuminations of X'mas decoration is becoming the news. When I went to the furniture shop the other day, I happened to find the illustration kit so I bought it, decorated them on the trees in front of my house, and lighted them at night. Then red,blue and green lamps began to blink at a time and trees were beautifully colored, so I had a fantastic feeling as if I were in the fantasy land. Lately the illumination at night became popular among people. It is not until today that I noticed enjoying the illuminations. "I would like to increase the number of lamps."Thus I may be wholly given up to the illumination decorated by myself.

We dropped in Kiyosumi Garden located in Koto ward on the way to art museum tour with our teacher in elementary school age. This garden is one of the famous representative garden of Meiji era where I found in the corner Basho's Haiku Monument carving the stone that "Huru-ikeya Kawazu-tobikomu Mizuno-oto". This monument was said to be constructed by Shin Eiko, haiku poet in 1934 and to be moved here at the time of repairing Basho's hermitage. Basho made the haiku above mentioned at nearby his hermitage in the spring of 1685.

This is the picture taken and sent me by my son in memory of  grandson being five-month-old. When I saw him to drink milk in a bottle at a draft in this August, I was surprised at his vigorous appetite. Now he weighs 8 kg and looks to be expressive. Just looking at him makes us happy without exchanging conversation each other surrounding him there. I can't stop saying the word of "cute" to him and hope he will grow smoothly,healthily and happily from now on.

This picture was taken from the observatory room elavated at about 50m height on the sky tower which is located in Sentosa island,Singapore. The observatory room goes up rotating around the sky tower automatically so we can command a fine view over the Malacca Strait where is famous for strategic point for ocean transportation in the world.

I got information on TV news that Ginkgo Avenue in front of Meiji Memorial hall is good for enjoying a walk and view this week. So I decided to visit there bringing my camera. When I left my house it was cloudy and very cold but when I reached there the sky became clear. I was fascinated by the contrast between golden leaves and blue sky. I searched good angle to take a picture. The man standing in the picture above is not related with me.

I visited to the small zoo at Asamizo Park in Sagamihara-city after attending botanical art class. There were so many animals as monkies, bears, horses and colourful birds etc. Above all I was interested in meerkat which was standing with his hind legs and looking round occasionally. According to my investigation, meerkats are omnivorous, categorized in musk cat, have about 30cm length, and live in the semi-desert area of South Africa and south Botswana.

I made a trip to Hatsusima island on Sagami bay by a passenger boat with 11 members of our graduates' association. We stayed at Hatsushima club, resort hotel with deluxe rooms. The view from our room was very nice and I could see Mt.Fuji covered with snow over the Sagami bay. So I could't help clicking the shutter of my camera immediately.

I visited to Sagamihara campus of Aoyama Gakuin University newly opened this year April, taking place for it's college festival and opening campus to the public both on 11th and 12th of October. The yellow-brownish colored school buildings were systematically constructed and the chapel hall as it's school symbol was located at the center of it's premises. I could enjoy listening hand bell music played by students in the chapel hall and I was fascinated in the stained glass on the surrounding walls.

There is a sports park with swimming pool,baseball ground,tennis court and athletic sports ground near my house. I make it a rule to take a walk every fine day and this evening I went there with my camera to take a picture for the salvia flowers being in full blossom. It was not until today that I noticed the blue salvia flowers in the center of the round flower garden.

We have the main road with 30m width in front of city hall surrounding with cherry blossoms avenue, crossing R16 road from US logistic base in the north to JR Kamimizo station in the south. I heard the main road was designed for a runway in case of urgent domestic war under the 2nd World War. The 30m width road is opend only for pedestrian and "Cherry Festival"takes place at this time of the year, so people can enjoy seeing cherry blossoms, carnival and open-air stall quarters.

We had the first snowfall in Kanto district this morning. I born in snowfall area in Japan was excited at the snowfall in my childhood. I remember I had my clogs straps torn by the first snowfall, so I couldn't help walking with barefoot on the way from the school. At that time such footwears as wooden clogs except winter season, straw sandals and straw boots in winter were popular but they could not be warm on a snow road. The wet straw sandals and boots were dried near the fireside in the house. After a while rubber boots had became available.

As people say that the 3rd day of November is always fine since before, we had also a fine weather today. I went to Sagamihara Park after a long absence. A lot of people were taking lunch box on a lawn and enjoying sun bath with their family. I saw a salvia flower garden on a slope at the center of the park and hurried to push the shutter of my camera for taking a picture of the salvia blooming with cardinal flowers.

I made a 3 days trip to Kyusyu with my wife from 13th to 15th of October. I have ever been to Saga and Nagasaki on business trip, but sight-seeing tour was the first time for me. We took a flight to go Kyusyu and a ferryboat to come back from Kyusyu. There were many cosmos flowers being in full bloom here and there, and I could take a good picture of them at the foot of Mt.Aso. A cosmos flower is also one of my favorite flower.

This picture was taken from the flight to Kyusyu. As the announcement for reaching Mt.Fuji was made after 40 minutes flight from Haneda, I watched carefully out of window and took some pictures of Mt.Fuji in a hurry. Side view picture is very popular but I think over view picture is not so popular.

゛Shima"named by my daughter is a brownish male cat covered with black stripes fur. Seven years ago my daughter wanted to have a kitten and requested for an animal society seeking for the person who wants a kitten. Then Ms.Y, a member of animal society came to my house with two small kittens and left them in my house. Since two kittens were playful and fighting,running and jumping each other throught my room, we thought them a little bit troublesome. Several days later Ms.Y visited to my house again to confirm our acceptance for two kittens, so we decided to accept the only one kitten looking healthy. Nowadays "Shima"is a member of my family and lords it over mischievously.

I have various kinds of flowering plants in a narrow space surrouding my house. For example they are plum,kaido,sasanqua,hanamizuki,magnolia,rose,kinmokusei,lilac,gardenia,kodemari,rhododendron etc. and entertain my family throughout a year. A flower of Magnolia tree by the side of porch is one of my favorite flowers and blooms in spring fully with voilet flowers.   

1975.12

This monochrome picture reminding me of my childhood was taken on the day getting the first snow fall in early February of 1975. The Uono river flowing behind our row of houses provided us with a lot of life stage, for examle when a child I washed my face in the morning, enjoyed swimming and fishing in the river. I am keeping this picure carefully like as one of my treasure because the row of houses was already demolished due to the river expansion. Therefore I can't see any more my old town.
